    Coto Makassar or Pallu coto manangkasarak is a traditional dish from the Makassar tribe, South Sulawesi. This food is made from beef offal that is boiled for a long time. Boiled offal mixes the beef, then slices it, then season it with specially formulated spices. Usually, Coto Makassar is served in a bowl and enjoyed with ketupat made from coconut leaves and burasa, which is a type of ketupat wrapped in banana leaves.Coto Makassar is thought to have existed since the time of the Gowa Kingdom, specifically in Gowa Regency in the 16th century. In the past, sirloin and tenderloin beef dishes were only served to the royal family. Meanwhile, the innards were served to lower class people or royal servants who were followers of the kingdom. Since November 2008, Coto Makassar has been selected as one of the menus served on Garuda Indonesia domestic flights to and from Makassar.

    Coto makassar atau Pallu coto mangkasarak adalah hidangan tradisional Suku Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan. Makanan ini terbuat dari jeroan sapi yang direbus dalam waktu yang lama. Rebusan jeroan bercampur daging sapi ini kemudian diiris-iris, lalu dibumbui dengan bumbu yang diracik secara khusus. Biasanya, Coto makassar dihidangkan dalam mangkuk dan dinikmati dengan ketupat dari daun kelapa dan burasa, yakni sejenis ketupat yang dibungkus daun pisang.Coto Makassar diperkirakan telah ada semenjak masa Kerajaan Gowa, tepatnya di Kabupaten Gowa pada abad ke-16. Dahulu, hidangan coto bagian daging sapi sirloin dan tenderloin hanya disajikan untuk disantap oleh keluarga kerajaan. Sementara bagian jeroan disajikan untuk masyarakat kelas bawah atau abdi dalem pengikut kerajaan.Sejak bulan November 2008, Coto makassar telah dipilih sebagai salah satu menu yang dihidangkan pada penerbangan domestik Garuda Indonesia dari dan ke Makassar
