In essence, the history of Indonesia is the history of its youth. Every significant event for this nation is the result of the efforts of young people, with the indelible history of youth being exemplified by the Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda) and the 1998 Reform as moments of unity and national consciousness spanning across the archipelago. Without the involvement of the youth, there would never be a country named Indonesia founded by the young, as the history of this nation is the history of its youth movements. Now, what about the context of Youth and Elections?

The younger generation plays a crucial role in sustaining and impacting the policies implemented by leaders. They are not mere witnesses but essential entities with the capacity to shape the direction and character of a nation. In the context of the 2024 Elections, the role of the youth becomes increasingly significant. Their involvement goes beyond exercising the right to vote; it involves the responsibility to choose wisely and support leaders with vision and dedication to the nation's progress.

The importance of the youth's role is not solely confined to their participation in the electoral process but extends to their intelligence and wisdom in evaluating potential leaders. In facing the 2024 Elections, the younger generation is expected to be agents of change intelligent, critical, and discerning. Therefore, the role of the youth is not just as recipients of policies but as pillars actively constructing the foundation for the sustainability and progress of a nation. I believe ensuring the role of the youth is as weighty as the longing of Dilan for Milea, the Jiwa for Nanti, or Layla for Majnun.

Sejatinya sejarah Indonesia adalah sejarah anak muda, setiap peristiwa signifikan bagi tanah air ini adalah hasil buah tangan anak muda, sejarah anak muda yang tak lekang oleh ingatan yakni Sumpah Pemuda dan Reformasi 98 sebagai momentum persatuan serta kesadaran nasionalisme dari penjuru nusantara yang akhirnya memantikan pergerakan nasional meraih kemerdekaan. Tanpa anak muda tidak akan pernah ada sebuah negeri bernama Indonesia, negeri yang didirikan oleh orang-orang muda, sebab sejarah bangsa ini adalah sejarahnya para angkatan muda. Lalu bagaimana dengan konteks Pemuda dan Pemilu?

Generasi muda memiliki peran krusial dalam menjaga keberlangsungan dan dampak dari kebijakan yang diterapkan oleh para pemimpin. Mereka bukan hanya sekadar saksi, tetapi menjadi entitas penting yang memiliki kapasitas untuk membentuk arah dan karakter suatu negara. Dalam konteks Pemilu 2024, peran generasi muda menjadi semakin signifikan. Keterlibatan mereka bukan hanya sebatas hak suara, tetapi melibatkan tanggung jawab untuk memilih secara bijaksana dan mendukung calon pemimpin yang memiliki visi serta dedikasi untuk kemajuan bangsa.

Pentingnya peran generasi muda tidak hanya terletak pada partisipasi mereka dalam proses pemilihan, tetapi juga pada kecerdasan dan kebijaksanaan mereka dalam menilai calon pemimpin. Dalam menghadapi Pemilu 2024, generasi muda diharapkan untuk menjadi agen perubahan yang cerdas, kritis, dan selektif. Oleh karena itu, peran generasi muda bukan hanya sebagai penerima kebijakan, melainkan sebagai pilar yang aktif membangun fondasi keberlanjutan dan kemajuan suatu bangsa. Saya rasa memastikan peran generasi itu tidak seberat rindu Dilan kepada Milea, Jiwa kepada Nanti atau Layla pada Majnun.
