Chewing actually sets off the digestive process. It breaks down food therefore it becomes more easy to digest when it reaches the stomach. Chewing also produces more spittle which can be a rich source of natural digestive enzymes supplement. But chewing food does not have exactly the same effect. The latter sends the wrong signals to your brain which tells the pancreas when there's nothing to digest, to double the creation of enzymes. This just overworks the pancreas unnecessarily.
