Soto Banjar is a typical soto from the Banjar tribe, South Kalimantan, with the main ingredients being chicken and having the fragrant aroma of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. This soto contains shredded chicken, potato cakes, boiled eggs, and is served with pieces of ketupat.
Like chicken soto, the dominant Banjar soto seasonings used are shallots, garlic and pepper. Soto Banjar does not use turmeric like Soto Lamongan from East Java. The spices are sautéed first with a little cooking oil or ghee until fragrant before being added to the chicken stew.

Soto Banjar adalah soto khas suku Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan dengan bahan utama daging ayam serta memiliki aroma harum rempah-rempah seperti kayu manis, biji pala, dan cengkih. Soto ini berisi daging ayam yang sudah disuwir-suwir, perkedel kentang, rebusan telur, dan disajikan dengan potongan ketupat.
Seperti halnya soto ayam, bumbu soto Banjar yang dominan digunakan adalah bawang merah, bawang putih dan merica. Soto Banjar tidak memakai kunyit seperti pada Soto Lamongan dari Jawa Timur. Bumbu ditumis lebih dulu dengan sedikit minyak goreng atau minyak samin hingga harum sebelum dimasukkan ke dalam kuah rebusan ayam.
