Rendang is a typical food from Minangkabau. Rendang is made from beef with coconut milk and spices which is cooked at a low temperature for a long time. Rendang has been around since the 16th century, at that time Minang people often migrated to other people's hometowns for long periods of time by sea, therefore they brought long-lasting food, namely rendang.

In Indonesian

Rendang adalah makanan khas dari Minangkabau. Rendang berbahan dasar dari daging sapi santan dengan rempah rempah yang dimasak dalam suhu rendah dengan waktu yang lama. Rendang sudah ada dari abad ke 16, saat itu masyarakat minang sering kali merantau ke kampung halaman orang lain dengan jangka waktu yang lama melalui laut, oleh karena itu mereka membawa makanan yang tahan lama yaitu rendang.
