BASAsulsel

BASAsulsel Wiki, a community-developed wiki under the BASAibu Wiki umbrella, was started in Bali, Indonesia as an effort by BASAsulsel, a nonprofit organization based in the US and in Indonesia, to involve the Balinese community in strengthening the Balinese language.

Once the community saw the power of BASAsulsel Wiki, particularly the ease by which the community can add content to and shape the wiki itself, the BASAsulsel Wiki evolved from a multimedia community-developed wiki dictionary to a vehicle through which the Balinese community could have a voice in civic issues and through which the government could ask for public input on policies and practices.

Today, BASAsulsel Wiki has been used by over 2.3 million. With an interface in Balinese, Indonesian, or English, BASAsulsel Wiki invites the public to share strategies, suggestions and questions about a myriad of public issues.

With the support of Fondation Botnar, BASAbali Wiki is being replicated in Sulawesi, Indonesia as BASAsulsel Wiki. Together, BASAbali Wiki and BASAisulsel Wiki, under the new BASAibu Wiki, represent a grassroots initiative which has the support of the government, private sector, academia, and NGOs as a community-developed digital platform to strengthen and improve the wellness and livability of communities.
