The involvement of young people in elections is very important, young people are an integral part of society who play a big role in determining the future direction of a country. Youth involvement in elections not only guarantees better representation, but also brings new perspectives, energy and different needs to the political process. They bring innovative ideas and changes that can have a positive impact on the political life of a country.

So, preparing young people to be involved in elections is key to ensuring a healthy and representative democratic process. It is important to make young people aware of the importance of their role in elections. The role of young people in elections, namely educating about the electoral process, creating awareness of voting rights, and encouraging active participation in the democratic process is a good first step. There are two political roles that young people can play in elections. First, get involved in direct political contestation as legislative candidates from the central to regional levels. Second, become part of the civil society forces carrying out election supervision. Youth involvement in practical politics is certainly not solely to achieve political power, according to M. Umar Syadat Hasibuan in the book Youth Political Revolution (2008), youth involvement in the world of politics is generally swept away by the current of short-term interests, even though being involved in practical politics must be accompanied by a vision. long-term pioneering. Democratic countries place youth as the subject of government, unlike monarchical or communist countries which tend to place youth as the object of government. The higher the youth participation, the better the quality of democracy in the country.

It is clear that young people are very important in elections for positive change in areas such as education, employment for young people, the environment, social justice, or technological innovation. What is certain is that they are trying to represent the voice of the younger generation and fight for their interests. The inclusion of elections and political participation as variables that determine the high and low levels of the democracy index is our collective homework, how to create elections that are not limited to a five-year procedural mechanism for changing elites, but are able to make people politically intelligent, so that they can criticize the programs and track records of parties and candidates, as the main consideration when the public and youth make their choices in the voting booth.

Penting sekali keterlibatan antara pemuda dalam pemilu, pemuda merupakan bagian integral dari masyarakat yang memegang peranan besar dalam menentukan arah masa depan suatu negara. Keterlibatan pemuda dalam pemilu tidak hanya menjamin representasi yang lebih baik, tetapi juga membawa perspektif baru, energi, dan kebutuhan yang berbeda ke dalam proses politik. Mereka akan membawa gagasan inovatif dan perubahan yang bisa memberi dampak positif pada kehidupan politik suatu negara.

Jadi, persiapan pemuda untuk terlibat dalam pemilu adalah kunci untuk memastikan proses demokrasi yang sehat dan representatif. Penting untuk menyadarkan pemuda akan pentingnya peran mereka dalam pemilu, peran pemuda dalam pemilu yaitu mengedukasi tentang proses pemilu, menciptakan kesadaran akan hak suara, dan mendorong partisipasi aktif dalam proses demokrasi adalah langkah awal yang baik. Terdapat dua peran politik dapat dilakukan pemuda di pemilu. Pertama, terlibat kontestasi politik secara langsung menjadi calon anggota legislatif dari pusat sampai daerah. Kedua, menjadi bagian dari kekuatan civil society melakukan pengawasan pemilu. Keterlibatan pemuda dalam politik praktis tentunya tidak semata-mata untuk meraih kekuasaan politik, menurut M. Umar Syadat Hasibuan dalam buku Revolusi Politik Kaum Muda (2008) keterlibatan pemuda dalam dunia politik umumnya terseret arus kepentingan jangka pendek, padahal terjun dalam politik praktis harus disertai visi kepeloporan jangka panjang. Negara demokrasi menempatkan pemuda sebagai subjek dari pemerintahan, bukan seperti negara monarki atau negara komunis yang cenderung menempatkan pemuda sebagai objek pemerintahan. Semakin tinggi partisipasi pemuda akan semakin baik kualitas demokrasi di negara tersebut.

Jelas sangat penting pemuda dalam pemilu pada perubahan positif dalam bidang seperti pendidikan, lapangan kerja bagi generasi muda, lingkungan, keadilan sosial, atau inovasi teknologi. Yang pasti, mereka berupaya mewakili suara generasi muda dan memperjuangkan kepentingannya. Masuknya pemilu serta partisipasi politik sebagai variabel penentu tinggi rendahnya indeks demokrasi, menjadi pekerjaan rumah kita bersama, bagaimana menciptakan pemilu tidak sebatas mekanisme prosedural lima tahunan pergantian elit, tetapi mampu menjadikan masyarakat cerdas secara politik, sehingga dapat mengkritisi program serta rekam jejak partai dan kandidat, sebagai pertimbangan utama ketika masyarakat dan pemuda menentukan pilihan di bilik suara.
