Infrastructure is the facilities that are needed by the community and can be used both physically and non-physically, generally the word infrastructure refers to physical development for public facilities such as roads, bridges, schools and for non-physical in the form of education systems, government systems, legal systems and many more.

According to a leading economist from the United States who is widely recognised for his contributions to the field of macroeconomics, N Gregory Mankiw argues that in economics infrastructure is a form of public capital or public capital consisting of bridges, public roads, sewer systems, and others as one of the investments made by the government.

Infrastructure is very important for a region because it can have an impact on improving the economy in the area and realising the fulfilment of the basic rights of its people such as food, clothing, shelter, security, education and health. However, that there are still some small areas that are mostly a concern for local residents i have a problem of infrastructure, especially in the access to roads and clean water.

Not a few of the remote areas that can be said to be a part that still has not  inadequate infrastructure such as the difficulty of road access in the area. For example, in the area of Jl. Manggarupi at the back of Jl. Letnan Jenderal Hertasning, Makassar, the road access in the area is still gravel and not asphalt, which can be dangerous for vehicle crossing the road, and some areas in Makassar that have many populated still often experience problems with clean water because one of the factors is the inadequate water infrastructure, for example in Tallo, Birangkanaya, Tamalanrea, Manggala, Pampang, and so on.

As a candidate for regional head it is very important to pay attention to the infrastructure of the region because it has a direct impact on the welfare of the community and the progress of the region, regions that have adequate infrastructure tend to be able to attract investors to invest in the area and can minimise inequality between regions that are uneven, especially on road access and clean water because it has a direct impact on the community by improving road access and access to clean water can show the community if their regional head candidates have concern for the basic needs of the community.

Access to roads and access to clean water is a very important foundation if both are problematic then the development of the region is hampered and the people are not prosperous, the efforts or solutions that must be made as regional heads later if elected, the solution to road access is, must make budget allocations for road construction funds and regular and adequate infrastructure maintenance, utilising modern technology in construction for time efficiency and providing the best quality to the community, and providing labour training and education to local communities so that they can properly maintain road access infrastructure facilities, and the solution for clean water access is the construction of boreholes that are evenly distributed so that every local community has access to clean water and has a good water system treatment so that the quality of water received can meet health standards.
