kept away from leaders who are dishonest and unjust.”  +
As a candidate for local leadership, community well-being should be the top priority. Leaders need to focus on building an inclusive and sustainable economy. By creating jobs and expanding education access, they can cut down unemployment and strengthen the local economy, making sure people feel the benefits directly. Affordable and accessible healthcare is crucial, along with access to clean water, decent housing, and solid infrastructure. Social programs for vulnerable groups, like seniors and people with disabilities, need strong support to build trust and security within the community. Finally, commitment to the environment is essential. Climate change has a direct impact on people’s lives, so policies like waste management, renewable energy, and green initiatives must be prioritized. Putting the environment first shows real dedication to a sustainable future.  +
In my opinion, the main priority for a regional head candidate should be improving community welfare through better healthcare services, quality education, and adequate infrastructure. Additionally, they should focus on transparency and combating corruption to establish a clean and integrity-based government.  +
Makassar has great potential to become a better city. However, poverty is still a major obstacle in achieving this goal. This condition not only affects the quality of life of the poor, but can also hinder the overall economic growth of the city. Many factors cause high poverty rates in Makassar, such as rapid population growth, limited employment opportunities, lack of access to education and health, and natural disasters. The Makassar city government has implemented programs to overcome poverty, but there are still many challenges to be faced in poverty alleviation. The challenges that still exist today are inaccurate poverty data, coordination between institutions, and changes in socio-economic conditions. From the programs that have been carried out by the government, there are successes and shortcomings. The success of several programs such as PKH, KIP, and KIS have succeeded in reducing poverty rates significantly and the shortcomings of inaccurate poverty data often cause programs to be off-target. For example, PKH has succeeded in increasing the school participation rate of children from poor families in Makassar. However, there are still challenges in ensuring that the assistance received is actually used to meet the needs of children, such as buying books or school supplies, there is also the development of MSMEs in Makassar has succeeded in increasing the income of several community groups, especially women. However, not all MSMEs that are developed can survive in the long term, and Clean Makassar has succeeded in improving the cleanliness of the city, but has not fully impacted the reduction of poverty rates. The solution could be in the form of increasing social assistance and food price stability, which are short-term solutions. The long-term solution is bureaucratic reform Improving the bureaucratic system to be more efficient and responsive to the needs of the community and sustainable economic development Encouraging inclusive and sustainable economic growth, Reducing dependence on limited natural resources. It can also carry out Government, Private, and Community Cooperation by Forming partnerships to manage resources effectively and efficiently or Partnerships with the Business World by Building partnerships with the business world to create new jobs. For example, one of the cities with a low poverty rate is in North Sulawesi, Manado, because Manado is the center of the economy and trade. and the tourism sector is also quite developed in several areas. From the many cases in the city of Makassar regarding poverty, it is hoped that the prospective regional head of Makassar city must improve the existing poverty alleviation program, so that the level of poverty in the city of Makassar is reduced and with good cooperation between the government, private sector, and the community, we are sure that Makassar can become a more prosperous and inclusive city.
Essentially, we are all humans with needs, and our needs are politicized through a system and legal mechanisms that have been agreed upon as binding norms for all layers of society to enable social life and governance among all individuals who adopt their own beliefs and thoughts. In a democratic republic, the election of local leaders is necessary so that they can protect and serve the community well in each region. What crosses my mind as I pass by hundreds of billboards for candidates for local leaders, legislators, and other positions is simple: "Are they chosen based on their quality or the quantity of votes?" Over time, I feel that we should start proposing a selection mechanism for local elections, legislative candidates, and all government positions based on the quantity of public votes. Let us understand together that in a country that claims to be democratic, everyone's voice is considered equally valuable because every individual has the same voting rights and participation before the law, regardless of their position, background, or intellectual ability. This is a form of state justice in fulfilling the equality rights of society in political participation. Unfortunately, this opportunity is often misused by various individuals who we might currently see as influential people selected through an election process that is not free from vote-buying. This occurs because many people are apathetic and unaware that their right to vote and be heard is valuable and can directly impact their lives, especially among the lower middle class, whose basic rights are often not well met, leading them to not think long-term about politics; their main concern is how to ensure they can eat tomorrow. The worst-case scenario is when those trusted to uphold the aspirations of the people misuse their power to benefit their own group because their rise to power is tainted and lacks cognitive or intellectual scrutiny. There is concern that as they grow and become entrenched in our government, they will maintain and exploit the powerlessness of the community, reducing the ability of younger generations to critique by leveraging their authority to keep the public misled. We cannot avoid or completely eliminate such practices, as many continue to engage in political campaigning, which is their right as citizens, as long as it does not involve gross misconduct. Returning to the main question: Are local leaders elected based on their quality or the quantity of votes? For now, they are indeed chosen based on the dominant quantity among all candidates, and at least if unclean practices are employed, those elected can still be beneficial if accompanied by a selection mechanism prioritizing knowledge and the candidates' thinking abilities. A rough outline of the selection mechanism; firstly, anyone wishing to run should undergo a test or selection process that can assess their problem-solving abilities, such as knowledge of social issues, followed by case studies to demonstrate how they would address them as someone in authority. This would be followed by testing general knowledge in various fields such as economics, the environment, education, and health, assessing how they respond verbally and spontaneously. They would be confirmed to run until all candidates are present to design programs that will have a significant impact on the population in their region before they are elected and take office, potentially forming a special team from the province for this purpose. The author's hope is that with transparent and clean testing and bureaucracy open to the public, the results of this selection will yield positive outcomes for society, regardless of which candidate is elected. We need leaders who are truly competent and innovative in addressing social issues. Hopefully, this proposal can be realized by policymakers and supported by local leaders for future candidates.

Air pollution affects human health and ecosystems, with efforts to reduce emissions being crucial.  +
Children's participation starts with unequal civil equipment, starting with Family Cards and Children's Cards, which not everyone gets so that national rights have also disappeared and are not paid attention to. The surrounding environment is inadequate, starting from family issues such as violence against children and homes that are uncomfortable for children so that children are not comfortable in their environment. Environmental health and cleanliness for children is also inadequate, such as children at Antang landfill who receive little attention even though they can get sick if they continue to be around it. Introduction to culture and free time is underutilized where many children end up engaging in promiscuity and are far from positive things and protection for neglected children.  +
There is a saying from someone who suggests that rich people will get richer and conversely poor people will always be poor, this can cause the distance between people to increase which results in them forming their own social status. The problem is that this difference in social status will result in undesirable things such as arrogance and so on, even though as we know, in our country there are principles in Pancasila which are the basis or basis for our country which says Just Humanity and civilized, where we as Indonesian citizens are expected to be just human beings where there are no differences like the issues above and we as Indonesian people are expected to be civilized citizens where there are no traits of arrogance and so on.  +

There are several programs that are generally needed by the community, such as infrastructure development, improving the quality of education and health, as well as poverty alleviation efforts.  +
The high unemployment rate not only affects the economy but also contributes to the increasing poverty rate. A direct visible impact is the emergence of beggars on various street corners. This reflects the system's failure to provide decent job opportunities for the community. Prolonged unemployment forces many people to take drastic measures to survive, often resulting in undesirable behaviors. In addition, the phenomenon of extortion is also a serious concern. Cases of parking attendants collecting fees without issuing tickets are concrete examples of this issue. Such practices not only harm the community but also create distrust towards law enforcement and government institutions. Candidates for local leadership need to take concrete steps to combat extortion, including implementing stricter oversight systems and educating the public about their rights. Furthermore, community safety remains a crucial issue. The rising number of mugging incidents in Makassar shows that citizens' sense of security is still not guaranteed. Muggings not only threaten physical safety but also instill deep fear among residents. Candidates for local leadership must have strategic plans to enhance security, including strengthening cooperation with the police and empowering communities to participate in maintaining the safety of their neighborhoods. The importance of education and skills training cannot be overlooked. Candidates for local leadership need to formulate programs focused on enhancing community skills, preparing them to face the increasingly competitive job market. By providing access to training and education, it is hoped that the community will not only rely on existing job opportunities but will also be able to create their own. In addressing all these challenges, candidates for local leadership must be transparent and accountable. Community involvement in the decision-making process should be encouraged to ensure that citizens feel they have a role in the city's development. Through open and inclusive dialogue, local leaders can formulate policies that align with the community's needs. This local election is a crucial moment for Makassar. By tackling the issues of unemployment, extortion, and security, candidates for local leadership can not only create a better environment but also build a strong foundation for the city's future progress. The people of Makassar deserve leaders who care and are committed to realizing positive change.

In my opinion, one of the main issues that a regional leader candidate should prioritize is public welfare. This includes improving healthcare access, ensuring quality education, and creating jobs. Infrastructure development, especially in remote areas, is also essential to reduce disparities. Environmental sustainability and disaster preparedness should not be overlooked either, considering the global challenges we face today. Overall, the candidate should be someone who can create inclusive policies that benefit everyone.  +
