It is proven that every year humans around the world produce so much waste, based on data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), until July 24, 2024, Indonesia has produced 31.9 million tons of waste.</br>With the accumulation of waste, it has a negative impact on the environment and humans. For example, environmental pollution, such as water and soil pollution caused by non-biodegradable waste, then air pollution due to incorrect waste management, such as burning can release toxic pollutants, and so on. From this environmental pollution comes the adverse impact on human health, namely diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, and parasites. In my opinion, waste accumulation occurs due to the lack of adequate facilities for waste disposal, improper waste management starting from each individual then household to landfill, and also regulations and sanctions from the government regarding waste. Government policies and public awareness are key to solving this waste problem. The government should provide more cleaning facilities, especially trash bins that have clearer waste sorting guidelines, because based on experience, we often want to dispose of waste properly but do not get proper facilities. Then instead of increasing the number of street cleaning employees, it should tighten cleaning supervision by making stricter regulations and more serious sanctions, even if necessary patrols every time.
