One issue that often bothers me is how rampant garbage is everywhere, in rivers, gutters, or even on streets. This damages the beauty and cleanliness of the environment and even facilitates diseases. In my opinion, the government needs to make a firm rule in place regarding the disposal of garbage in its place, the government also needs to create a program to clean/remove garbage from these places.
Another problem I often notice is the location of the installation of posters/billboards of legislative candidates which are placed randomly, especially on trees. There's no problem with installing of billboards of legislative candidates, but it should be done in a controlled manner. In my opinion, there should be provisions for the installations of billboards of legislative candidates so that they don't disturb the beauty. +
Based on a report by Mongabay.co.id (2024), the water crisis in Makassar has been ongoing for 24 years. For decades, residents of the Tallo district have suffered from drought, relying on water purchased from carts at a price of Rp8,000 to Rp15,000 per day. All this time, people have only depended on rainwater and bore wells. When the rains do not come and the bore wells dry up, the residents have no choice but to surrender and spend extra money just to access clean water. This situation doesn’t only occur in the Tallo district, but happens annually in the Manggala, Makassar, Panakkukang, and Rappocini districts, as well as in the northern and eastern parts of the city.
Makassar, which claims to be a world city, struggles with access to clean water. If this continues, the city's "world-class" status should be called into question. What is even more concerning is that this clean water issue has become a political commodity to support electoral contests, with the city's reliance on clean water from other regions (such as the Lekopancing, Bili-Bili dams). If the government is serious about addressing this, there should be concrete actions taken. The issue of clean water must be a priority for regional leadership candidates—not just political promises, but real and serious steps are needed.
As one of the city's residents, I would like to urge the candidates for local leadership to focus on solving the clean water issue. This requires improving facilities, revitalizing infrastructure, and creating urban management that supports the resolution of droughts. For instance, transforming Makassar into a sponge city (absorbing and managing water reserves) and improving infrastructure.
I hope this aspiration receives special attention from the local leadership candidates. We simply want Makassar to no longer struggle with clean water so that the city is truly worthy of being called a world city—not a world-class city suffering from drought. +

The issue of public facilities encompasses various aspects related to accessibility, quality, and maintenance of public amenities. One of them is:
1. Accessibility:
Public facilities such as parks, transportation, and buildings must be accessible to everyone. +
The lack of interaction and concern from political officials towards the public often leads to dissatisfaction and distrust. Some common responses to this issue are:
1. Lack of Accountability: When political officials do not interact or care about the public, it is often seen that they are not accountable to the aspirations of the people they are supposed to represent. This makes the public feel that their voices are not being heard.
2. Information Gap: With ineffective communication, the public often feels they are not receiving enough information about government policies or actions. This can worsen feelings of injustice or uncertainty among the public.
3. Declining Political Participation: The lack of concern from political officials can reduce public interest in participating in politics, whether in elections or social participation. This can negatively impact the overall quality of democracy.
4. Widening Social Inequality: When officials do not listen to the needs of the public, especially vulnerable groups, this can exacerbate social and economic inequality, as policies may not always reflect real needs on the ground.
5. Increased Protests and Dissatisfaction: As an expression of dissatisfaction, the public often turns to demonstrations or protests as a way to voice injustice. If political officials remain indifferent, these protests can escalate in scale and intensity.
Ultimately, effective interaction between political officials and the public is key to building trust and ensuring that policies are responsive to the needs of the people. +
The lack of interest in studying caused by the high cost of education is a serious issue that can affect access to learning opportunities, especially for low-income families. High educational costs often include tuition fees, books, uniforms, transportation, and other necessities. This can make education feel unaffordable for many people, leading to a decrease in their motivation to continue their studies.
To address this issue, several solutions can be considered:
1. Scholarships and Financial Aid
2. Development of Alternative Education Programs
3. Reduction of Additional Costs
By addressing the high cost of education, it is hoped that interest in learning can increase, allowing more people the opportunity to obtain a quality education. +
Mandai Old Airport, once the primary gateway for air travel in South Sulawesi, has been largely abandoned since it was replaced by Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport. However, with its vast remaining land, this old airport holds immense potential for revitalization that could benefit the people of South Sulawesi, particularly those in Makassar and Maros. In response to the region's evolving needs and the aspirations of its people, local government should explore innovative options to repurpose this space, whether in the realms of history, sports, or environmental sustainability.
One compelling idea is to transform Mandai Old Airport into an aviation history museum. This site could be turned into an educational tourist attraction showcasing the history of airports, both in Sulawesi and throughout Indonesia. The museum could feature exhibits of old aircraft, aviation equipment, and information on the evolution of aviation. Such a museum would not only serve as a cultural landmark but also contribute to the regional economy by drawing tourists from both within and outside the country, keen to learn about aviation history. This initiative would position South Sulawesi as a unique destination in the tourism landscape.
Moreover, the museum could act as an educational hub for schoolchildren, students, and aviation enthusiasts who want to delve deeper into the world of flight and the crucial role airports play in regional development. Establishing this museum would undoubtedly have a positive impact on historical awareness and become a cultural legacy for future generations.
Alternatively, the government could consider using the space to build a modern football stadium. Football is a beloved sport in Makassar and across South Sulawesi, and the construction of an international-standard stadium would become a source of pride for the local population. Such a stadium would not only host sporting events but could also serve as a venue for concerts and large-scale gatherings. A new stadium would stimulate the local sports industry and help boost the economy through sports tourism. Football fans would no longer need to seek entertainment outside of Sulawesi, as this stadium could become the center of exciting local and national events.
If environmental sustainability is the primary focus, converting Mandai Old Airport into a public park filled with greenery could be an ideal solution. The land could be planted with trees and transformed into a green urban space open to the public. This park would provide a recreational area for the community while serving as the "lungs" of the city, helping to reduce air pollution and contribute to environmental preservation amid rapid urban growth. Public green spaces also offer areas for relaxation, light exercise, and family gatherings, which would enhance the quality of life for residents.
A green city park would symbolize the government's commitment to environmental conservation, and such an area would promote healthier lifestyles among Makassar and Maros residents. The large green space would not only positively impact physical and mental well-being but also become a model for sustainable urban planning.
In conclusion, the revitalization of Mandai Old Airport presents a golden opportunity for the local government to improve residents' quality of life while elevating South Sulawesi’s profile on the national and international stages. Whether repurposed as an aviation museum, a modern football stadium, or a lush green park, each option holds clear, tangible benefits. It is crucial for the government to make informed decisions by considering public input and fully harnessing this site's potential to ensure a brighter, more sustainable future for South Sulawesi.
In everyday life, especially when driving, we always encounter traffic police, who are useful for regulating or maintaining traffic safety.
but sometimes traffic police use their rights or positions to carry out incidents while driving. I once had an incident on the road, the police gave me a ticket on the grounds that I was driving recklessly even though I was driving slowly and in accordance with road rules.
Many police carry out incidents to earn money for themselves, and I also don't see enough police participation in traffic matters, especially since the police play an important role in our driving lives +

Makassar faces several urgent issues that need to be addressed, one of which is the worsening traffic congestion. As the population grows and infrastructure develops, the volume of vehicles on Makassar's roads has increased rapidly, while road capacity has not expanded proportionally. As a result, congestion has become a daily problem, affecting people's mobility and economic productivity. The lack of an optimal public transportation system, combined with the high use of private vehicles, exacerbates the situation. The government needs to implement sustainable solutions, such as developing efficient mass transportation and enforcing stricter traffic regulations.
In addition to traffic congestion, environmental issues, particularly waste management, are also critical in Makassar. With the city's rapid growth, the amount of waste generated by residents has surged, yet the current waste management system is insufficient. Many residential areas and public spaces suffer from uncollected garbage, leading to pollution and health problems for the community. Raising public awareness of the importance of waste management and expanding recycling programs are crucial to addressing this challenge. The government also needs to strengthen waste management infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. +
In this case it is about traffic jams. Those of us who live in the North often experience what is called traffic jams, where the cause of traffic jams is the inefficient operating hours of trucks, which causes traffic jams. Moreover, if the truck experiences a problem, whether with the engine or a flat tire, inevitably the truck pulls over to the shoulder of the road, which can make the road narrow, causing traffic jams.
Next, regarding the clean water crisis. We who live in the northern area or close to the port, which has been experiencing a clean water crisis for several months, where the clean water crisis often occurs every year, there is indeed some clean water assistance but it is not enough to meet the community's clean water needs. . And we hope that there will be government follow-up in processing clean water so that the need for clean water can be resolved +
Transparency and anti-corruption issues relate to how regional head candidates are committed to running a government that is open, honest and free from abuse of power. Transparency involves openness in decision making, budget management, and reporting government performance to the public. Anti-corruption includes efforts to prevent, detect and take action against corrupt practices. +

In Indonesia, especially in Makassar City, in my opinion, education is not evenly distributed because there are still many people who compare one school to another, this shows that education in Makassar City is still not evenly distributed and there are still many schools that lack facilities for learning and also shortage of manpower to teach +

The recent dry season has caused the city of Makassar to receive drought alert status. This is caused by low rainfall in the city of Makassar. This low rainfall has caused the supply of raw water in the city of Makassar to decrease, so clean water is quite difficult to obtain at this time. In fact, to get clean water, residents have to take PDAM cars that run in every area of Makassar city. The lack of raw water supply is the reason why the two cities of Makassar are experiencing drought alert status +
